Spotlight: Shine On by Actone Guitars

Builder Tony Tomlinson (Actone Guitars) has introduced a line of visually unique custom instruments, many of which draw on elements of modern industrial design and the use of aluminum, chrome and magnesium alloy. Shine On (photo) is Tomlinson's tribute to Pink Floyd and features a 3-piece rosewood and aluminium neck with 21 frets and jumbo fretwire, two high output chrome humbuckers, sealed gear machine heads, a solid brass bridge, and a body of magnesium alloy cast in five sections. Shine On is, literally, heavy metal. "This is a very heavy guitar with an amazing amount of sustain but I would honestly say far to heavy to gig for any longer than 2 songs!" says Tomlinson.
