Emergent Music Marketing Is Now Thirty Tigers

Press release
Source: conqueroo / Cary Baker

After five years of earning its stripes as a visionary independent music marketing company Emergent Music Marketing is changing its name while continuing to grow its “den” of staff and services. What will not change is the company’s fierce commitment to excellence. Thirty Tigers’ staff of experienced professionals will continue to provide topnotch service to its eclectic family of independent labels, as well as distribution through its exclusive relationship with RED (NARM's 2006 Medium Distributor of the Year Award Winner).

Thirty Tigers’ mission is to maximize sales for its clients by focusing on demand creation as well as providing sales reps and accounts with clear and concise information to ensure that product gets where it needs to be and ultimately sells through. The company works closely with those responsible for radio promotion, touring, digital distribution, publicity and Internet marketing, and offers micro-marketing services via retail store calls and promotions.

Thirty Tigers’ diverse and talented client roster includes Compadre Records (Billy Joe Shaver, James McMurtry), Beth Nielsen Chapman, Tony Joe White, Chris Knight, Jake Shimabukuro, Altissimo! Recordings, the late Michael Houser (Widespread Panic), Bernie Leadon (The Eagles), Poco, David Mead, The Avett Brothers, John Cowan, radio personalities Rick & Bubba, rising urban star Bohagon and many more. The company also runs a unique urban street team whose successes include Sony’s Lyfe Jennings and Geffen’s Floetry.

Thirty Tigers was co-founded in 2001 by industry veterans David Macias and Deb Markland. The pair shared a love of music and marketing and the belief that the onslaught of major label consolidation, combined with advances in technology, would result in many viable artists finding a home in the independent world. Their prediction proved true and since then Macias and Markland have been joined by a growing staff of cool cats including industry veteran Bob Goldstone, who came on board in 2002 to oversee the company’s sales effort. In 2004, the company created its own label imprint with the inaugural release Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster. The album, co-produced by Macias, won critical acclaim and the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album.

Now, Thirty Tigers is excited to announce the addition of a new artist management arm, which already boasts a roster of acclaimed talent including BR549, Jim Lauderdale, Elizabeth Cook, Donna Hughes, Anne McCue and Amy Lavere. Nancy Quinn, whose impressive background includes longtime stints with BMG and Dualtone Records, will join Macias in running the division.

These past five years have seen independent music roar into the mainstream, and Thirty Tigers has been there to answer the call. With nine lives ahead of it, this trailblazing company is just getting started.
