Sawdust Art Festival

While most festivals span a weekend, the Sawdust Art Festival runs from June 27 - September 3, 2006, in Laguna Beach, Orange County, California, and features live entertainment almost every day. Though the focus of the festival is on traditional art forms such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media, guitar lovers will not be disappointed by the wide variety of music genres (everything from flamenco to surf rock) and guitarists presented throughtout the event. 2006 marks the fesitval's 40th anniversary and more than 200,000 visitors are expected to enjoy the 102 entertainment acts (including Modern Guitars contributor Dan Yablonka) performing on three stages. Festival organizers will use 110,000 pounds of sawdust to keep the summer dust at bay, hence the festival's name. Event website.
