NAMM Parties at Antone's

by Jeff Carmack; photos by Eileen Llorente.

On Saturday night, July 15, 2006, Summer NAMM attendees got another taste of the "real" Austin at a party sponsored by AMD’s Digital Media & Entertainment Group. The affair was held at Antone's, Austin's legendary Home of the Blues. John Pointer and Brian Andrew Lee opened for the evening's headliner, local favorite Monte Montgomery. Although enormously popular with guitar cognoscenti, Montgomery maintains a fairly low profile. His prowess doesn't go unnoticed though; he was the first to be named to Guitar One magazine‘s list of Top 10 Best Undiscovered Guitarists in America and has been named Best Acoustic Guitar Player by the Austin Music Awards for seven years running.
