Auction News: The Mermaid Guitar by Andy Manson

Press release

Legendary guitar builder Andy Manson, father of Led Zeppelin’s instantly recognisable tripleneck guitar, has put his ultimate creation, The Mermaid, up for sale exclusively on Shop4thelot.com, vowing to donate half the proceeds to charity.

Taking just under thee years to build, Andy has decided to sell his work of art to the highest bidder, looking to raise six figures and donate half to the Harvest Help charity that has been working for over 20 years with farmers and their families in rural Africa, helping them to grow their own food, earn an income and become self-reliant.

Andy said “As you can imagine, with the time, effort and materials used in her construction, she is worth a considerable sum. As I stand to make a lot of money from her, I want her existence to benefit others not just myself and the winning bidder. Naturally, I would love to see her go to a guitar player though.”

The Mermaid is being sold exclusively on Shop4thelot.com – a new shopping directory launched at the beginning of 2006. Originally intended just for the South West of England, Shop4thelot.com began life as a new type of directory innovatively combining the many genres of industry and cross promoting relevant products and services within search results.

Andy said, “Shop4thelot.com is an ingenious website and I have no doubt it has a very successful future ahead of it. It’s so much more interesting and easier to use than others, I wouldn’t use anything else.”

With its sheer size, over 6,200 categories to choose from and the attention it has received, the website has experienced substantial growth from a average of one thousand hits per week to just over 1.4 million in the past three months alone and has now started to spread not only nationally, but internationally with one of Australia’s most famous landmarks - the Sydney Tower Skywalk recently taking up advertising space.

Michael Tate, co-founder of Shop4thelot.com said “Being a guitar player myself for many years, I have been always been a fan of Andy’s work even though I have not yet managed to get one of my own. We are ecstatic and extremely flattered Andy has chosen to sell his truly unique and jaw dropping masterpiece on Shop4thelot.com. Of course, when Andy told us he plans to donate half to Harvest Help, we naturally wanted to go out of our way to help as much as possible so hopefully he will not only hit his six figure target, but smash it completely!”
