Music giant Gibson Guitar sponsored the prestigious Mojo Les Paul Award at Mojo Magazine's annual awards ceremony at the Shoreditch Town Hall, London. The Mojo Honours List is the UK's annual awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the greatest names in music. The event features a number of key award categories as voted by the magazine's readers and the users of www.Mojo4music.com.

The Mojo Awards are a highlight in the Music Industry calendar and is attended by many of the biggest names in music. This year was no exception, with the likes of Sir Elton John, Jon Bon Jovi, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Brian May, Nick Cave, Rosanne Cash and Chrissie Hynde walking the red carpet. This year the Mojo Les Paul Award was presented to Queen guitarist Brian May by last year’s winner Jeff Beck. The Les Paul Award is given to honour outstanding guitar playing. The presentation was followed by a personal video message from Les Paul. Other winners included Gibson Guitar artist Corinne Bailey Rae who scooped Best New Act, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour won Lifetime Achievement and Sir Elton John collected the Mojo Hall Of Fame award ahead of the release of his new album The Captain and the Kid. Rosanne Cash daughter of Johnny Cash was on hand to collect an award on her father’s behalf as was Chrissie Hynde and Jools Holland who also won awards.

A Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top was signed by many of the attending artists, including Sir Elton John, Jon Bon Jovi, Brian May, Jeff Beck, Rosanne Cash, Nick Cave, Mick Jones (The Clash), The Buzzcocks, Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and David Gilmour. The guitar will be auctioned off by Mojo Magazine with all proceeds going to the War Child Charity.

Mojo editor-in-chief Phil Alexander said:” The Mojo Honours List is not about the biggest names or the hottest acts that will be forgotten within a year. It is about artists that have stayed or will stay the course."
