Smithsonian Jazz Cafe Wraps Up Great Guitar Month

Press release
Source: Smithsonian Jazz Cafe

We've been celebrating great guitar music all month at the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe, and this Friday, May 26th we wrap things up in grand style with the artistry of Steve Abshire and Vince Lewis. This will be a CD release party celebrating their second recording together, "Live at the Mainstay" on the appropriately named Noteworthy label. Already hailed in the music press as a successful follow up to their acclaimed Two in the Pocket recording of 2003, Live at the Mainstay catches these musicians at the top of their game. They'll be joined on the date by DC jazz faves Tommy Cecil on bass and Tony Martucci on drums.

And speaking of DC jazz faves, next week, we kick off the month of June with the saxophone stylings of Marshall Keys on Friday, June 2nd. One of the most innovative and versatile players on the DC music scene, Keys and his group always present the "sound of surprise." This is yet another "can't miss" show!

Present your IMAX ticket stub from one of our Friday evening shows, and your admission to the Cafe that evening is FREE!

The Smithsonian Jazz Cafe is located in the Atrium of the National Museum of Natural History at 10th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Music program is from 6-10pm. A la carte dining and cash bar. Major credit cards accepted for food purchases only. Admission is $10. Children under 12 are admitted free.
