Musician's Institute to Offer 6-day Summer Course

Press release
Source: Luck Media and Marketing

Having played a part in developing the careers of over 20,000 musicians, producers, engineers, vocalists and music industry professionals, the Hollywood based Musician's Institute (MI) has long been considered the world's premiere contemporary music school. 2006 is shaping up to be another exciting year at the Institute, with the third year into their unique program - Summer Shot.

A one of a kind, summer learning experience for guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists, vocalists and bands, Summer Shot is a six-day crash course in technique, musicianship, music technology, style and performance. The program is designed for intermediate level players looking for a chance to experience MI's famous, hands-on, all-music environment. Scheduled for June 19-25, the curriculum includes rhythm section workshops (including six hours of supervised band rehearsals), private lessons (two hour sessions with MI instructors), open jams, open counseling, special seminars (including discussions on style, technique, music business and songwriting) and concerts. Students will also have the opportunity to take home their final performance on DVD!

In other MI news, many exciting things have been happening with Hiring Hall, the school's in-house industry audition showcase. Hiring Hall recently provided a chance for MI talent to show their stuff before two major recording acts. First, mega-metal icons Korn came through looking for a backing vocalist for their upcoming world tour. Following on their heels, Epic recording artists Fuel auditioned lead vocalists. The Fuel jury is still out, but the Korn audition paid off handsomely for former VIT, GIT and RAP student Kalen Chase. Kalen will be joining Korn for their upcoming world tour as a backup vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist and percussionist. The tour will take him across the United States as well as to Asia, Australia and Europe, and when not on the road, he'll continue his duties as principle composer and lead singer for the Los Angeles-based band Crucifix Doll, currently in record deal negotiations. Hiring Hall is overseen by Barry Squire, who teaches A&R at MI and is the school's unofficial Industry Liason. Squire has worked at Sony and Geffen in key A&R capacities.
