William Tell Chosen as BMI's April Pick of the Month

Press release
Source: BMI

William Tell, Los Angeles alt-rocker and former guitarist for Orange County's Something Corporate, will be BMI's "Pick of the Month" for April. Tell will perform Thursday, April 6 at 9:30pm at the Troubadour (9081 Santa Monica Blvd.). Tickets will be on sale for $5.

One of Southern California's most coveted guitarists and alternative rock singer/songwriters, Tell's sound is the antidote for mindless pop. With clear influences from classic American songwriters, Tell produces songs with solid mainstream potential. His musical tales brim with catchy, alt-pop-rock hooks and stylish melodies that date back to his club days and have worked their way to the present.

Growing up in a gospel music family, he learned to play guitar from his father and spent his college years performing at clubs around Orange County. He left college life behind when Something Corporate signed a record deal, saw their music explode on radio and TV, and hit the road for over two years. A singer/songwriter at heart, Tell broke away from Something Corporate - with their blessing - and began to focus on his own music two years ago. His evolving songwriting style has earned him a rabid and devoted following and a growing and dedicated MySpace community. With music that is the soundtrack for your first love, your best road trips and your favorite moments, it only gets better from here. Visit www.myspace.com/williamtell.

BMI's "Pick of the Month" is a live, monthly showcase series focusing on a musically impacting band or artist whose talent is worthy of attention. The series is meant to help expose these artists to the music industry and public through a show held at a quality venue with discounted admission.

Now celebrating more than 65 years in business, BMI is an American performing right organization that represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers and publishers in all genres of music. With a repertoire of more than 6.5 million musical works from around the world, the non-profit-making corporation collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
