by Tom Watson, photographs by Rick Landers

The action continues at the 2006 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, during day two of the event that brings together manufacturers and retailers of musical instruments. The show runs through Sunday, January 22, 2006.

The association sponsoring the event, National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), was founded by 52 music instrument makers in 1901. Today, the organization represents more than 9,000 retailers and manufacturers from 85 countries.

In addition to aiding manufacturers and retailers of musical instruments, NAMM is involved in other music-related activities, such as the Museum of Music Making, "...an interactive journey through a century of musical instrument innovations that helped shape American Popular Music from the 1890s to the present day. It includes over 500 vintage instruments on display, hundreds of audio and video examples at the push of a button and an interacive area where visitors can play a varietyf of hands-on instruments..." (from the museum's website).
