January 9, 20062006, 6th Annual New York Guitar SeminarPress release The 6th New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes will take place July 5 -- 9, 2006 at Mannes College The New School for Music in New York City. The theme of this year's seminar is "New York, New York: Guitarists from the Big Apple." The 6th New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes features top performers, teachers, and recording artists based in New York City, including: · Sharon Isbin Sessions during the five days of intensive study will include concerts, master classes, and workshops, as well as aspects of Mannes College's prized Techniques of Music curriculum (theory, ear training, analysis, sight reading): Flamenco Techniques for the Classical Guitarist For information visit the website: www.mannes.edu/guitar. All full participants (limited to 50 guitarists from around the world) are automatically entered in a free drawing to receive a new Antonio Loriente handmade Spanish concert guitar, valued at over $2,000- generously donated by Guitar Salon International. Come a day early and join the New York celebration of America's Independence Day. After only five years, the New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes has become one of the country's preeminent events, with a unique emphasis on musical training for guitarists. New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes is open to college, graduate, and high school students, professional teachers and performers, and classical guitar lovers of all ages seeking to broaden their musical horizons. Participants in past seminars have come from throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Russia, United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand. Located in the heart of Manhattan's vibrant Upper West Side, Mannes College is within walking distance of such major American landmarks as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Accommodations for the seminar are available at the Days Hotel on Broadway, Columbia University housing, and youth hostel facilities nearby, or at any one of thousands of hotels in New York City.
