To kick off the 6th year of the hugely successful Honda Civic Tour, American Honda Motor Co. announced GRAMMY®-winning artists, The Black Eyed Peas as the 2006 headliner during an event and surprise performance today at the company's American headquarters in Torrance, Calif.

Over the last five years, the Honda Civic Tour has become one of the music industry's hottest tours by putting fans in touch with their favorite break-out artists at moderate ticket prices. This year's headliner, The Black Eyed Peas, have captivated critics and audiences alike with their album Monkey Business and a string of successful singles. These talented and eclectic hit-makers plan to electrify the stage and bring together a diverse audience, making the 2006 Honda Civic Tour an unforgettable concert experience. The Black Eyed Peas will be kicking off their tour on March 23rd, 2006 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

"We are so thrilled to be headlining the Honda Civic Tour for 2006," said Fergie, of The Black Eyed Peas. "Honda has been a great supporter and trendsetter in producing environmentally friendly cars, so we are excited about pairing up to bring our live show and sounds out to so many new and long-time fans across the country." will.i.am echoes the excitement, "It's big. It's all coming back to little dreams that you had when you were younger. I remember we would always have to take the bus, because we didn't have cars and I remember saying I can't wait to get a Civic. We were never able to get the Honda's at that time, but here we are headlining The Honda Civic Tour. So for us, it shows that if you really try hard and don't give up, the dreams that you have can even surpass the little dream that you once had. Here we are, we went from wanting a Civic to doing something with Honda Civic, launching a new hybrid. I mean that's dope."

As part of the partnership, The Black Eyed Peas created and designed special custom features for a Honda Civic Hybrid which will be displayed on tour with the band and showcased at each venue. Throughout the tour, fans will have the opportunity to win this customized and autographed, one-of-a-kind car. The vehicle was unveiled during the announcement and special performance that took place today for selected Honda associates.

The completely redesigned 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid, which can get up to an amazing 50 miles per gallon (EPA estimated combined fuel economy, 49 hwy/51city. Use for comparison. Actual mileage may vary.), was customized with some really cool additions that were created and designed by the band. The Black Eyed Peas Civic includes: custom metallic paint designs, Black Eyed Peas graphics and the bands autographs; custom embroidered leather interior; an Alpine Electronics state-of-the-art mobile multimedia system; XM Satellite Radio; Konig racing-inspired rims; Dunlop sport tires; Sprint Performance Suspension; Borla Polished Exhaust Tip and a special Honda Civic Tour Black Eyed Peas PA system.

Fans can log on to www.hondacivictour.com to gain access to tour information, and beginning February, 15, 2006 fans can log on for special pre-sale ticket purchasing details and to register to win the Black Eyed Peas customized Civic Hybrid. No purchase is necessary to enter and entry is limited to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older.

will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo have transcended their vigilant hip-hop roots and have become a global phenomenon. Their 2003 CD Elephunk was a breakthrough album for The Black Eyed Peas, vaulting them to a level of success unparalleled by any other hip-hop group. The album sold over 9 million copies worldwide, and garnered 4 GRAMMY nominations, with one GRAMMY award. Their fourth album Monkey Business looks to catapult them to even more success with the hit singles "Don't Phunk with My Heart," "Don't Lie," "My Humps," and the current single "Pump It" leading the way. The album earned The Black Eyed Peas four more GRAMMY nominations and won them two American Music Awards for Favorite Band/Duo or Group Pop/Rock and Favorite Band/Duo or Group Rap/Hip-Hop. Having already sold over 16 million albums worldwide and an invitation to perform at the 2006 World Cup opening gala, it is clear that The Black Eyed Peas have made their way to international superstardom.

Past headlining artists on the Honda Civic Tour include top acts: Blink-182, Everclear, Incubus, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional and most recently Maroon5.

Honda began operations in the U.S. in 1959 with the establishment of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Honda's first overseas subsidiary. Honda now employs more than 30,000 associates in North America.
