Cathy & Marcy Receive 11th Grammy Nomination

Press release
Source: Community Music, Inc.

Back-to-back 2004 and 2005 Grammy® Award winners Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer received their 11th Grammy Award nomination for their newest CD, Scat Like That: A Musical Word Odyssey, available now on Rounder Records. This power duo of children's music won that category's GRAMMY in both 2004 for Bon Appetit! Musical Food Fun and in 2005 for cELLAbration: a Tribute to Ella Jenkins. Scat Like That is Cathy & Marcy's 30th CD together and 11th GRAMMY nomination. The recording has already won a Parents' Choice Gold Award and an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award. The title song won Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and First Prize in the USA Songwriting Contest, both in the category of children's music. EVERY Cathy & Marcy CD since their 1998 release of Blanket Full of Dreams has received a GRAMMY nomination.

On Scat Like That, Cathy & Marcy make wordplay big fun with tongue twisters, scat singing, limericks, yodeling, Pig Latin and more. Clever, witty, playful and adventurous, this musical journey travels through big band swing, polka, blues, folk, old-time country and Latin sounds. These songs are designed for fun at home, in the car and in the classroom. For more information, and fun CD extras, visit www.cathymarcy.com. Time Out NY Kids called the CD, "One of the best kids albums you'll hear anywhere".

12th nomination: TOM PAXTON: LIVE IN THE UK

BEST TRADITIONAL FOLK ALBUM (Field 14, Category 67, #4)

Cathy & Marcy are both producers and band on Tom Paxton's new CD, Tom Paxton: Live in the UK, which received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Traditional Folk Album. The duo toured with Tom in the UK in 2003, and the concerts were recorded live to mini-disk. Two of the shows were edited down to one live CD - no overdubs, just the real thing. Paxton is a folk icon whose songs "Ramblin' Boy" and "The Last Thing On My Mind" have entered the realm of folk classics. His live performance is charming, filled with political humor and tender love songs, and enhanced by Tom's warm stage presence.

CATHY FINK & MARCY MARXER are multiple Grammy® Award nominees, and the Grammy Award winners in 2004and 2005 in the Best Musical Album for Children category- making them the only children's recording artists to win the Grammy two years in a row. Their children's and family recordings have delighted fans for more than 20 years. They have also received numerous awards from The Parents' Choice Foundation, The American Library Association, Early Childhood News and the Washington Area Music Association.
