Mannes College in NYC Announces Fall Guitar Events

Mannes College/The New School for Music is pleased to announce a semester filled with guitar events open to the public. Located at 150 West 85th Street on Manhattan's Upper West Side, Mannes College- the first college in America to offer a classical guitar major (1956) and the first with a guitar ensemble-in-residence (1987)- is home to the New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes, which will take place next July 5-9, 2005.

Admission to all concerts and master classes is free and open to the public.
Events take place in the Mannes Concert Hall unless otherwise noted.

Monday, October 10 at 7 pm
Master Class with Matthew Marshall
Director of the Conservatory and Guitar Program at Massey University, New Zealand

Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 pm
The Mannes Late Romantics Festival, featuring guitarist Kurt Toriello
at Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, 684 Park Avenue at 68th Street (ticket required)

Sunday, November 6 at 4 pm
Pisces Guitar Quartet (Mannes students and graduates)
at Flushing Town Hall, Flushing, New York

Master Class for Ensembles with The Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo

The Sixth annual seminar will feature master classes, concerts, lectures, workshops, and classes by Mannes faculty and other internationally renowned artists from New York, including Sharon Isbin, Benjamin Verdery, David Starobin, David Leisner, Jorge Morel, Dominic Frasca, Michael Lorimer, Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo, Mariano Aguirre, and many others.
