PRS Guitars Donates Unique Instrument to Jeff Gordon Foundation Event

Press release
Source: PRS Guitars

PRS Guitars, a leading manufacturer in electric and electro-acoustic guitars will be attending the 5th Annual Time Warner Cable "An Evening with Jeff Gordon" dinner and live auction on October 12, 2005 in Charlotte, NC. PRS is donating a prototype Corvette guitar built at the inception of the PRS / Chevrolet partnership. This partnership has grown to include sponsorship of the factory Corvette C6.R racecar, manufacturing Corvette/PRS guitars under license and associated licensed apparel. Like Jeff Gordon, PRS has a relationship with DuPontâ„¢ finishes and is currently using Hot Hues® colors and DuPontâ„¢ clear coats on their instruments.

This unique Corvette guitar boasts a highly figured curly maple top and inlaid Corvette trademarks comprised of mother of pearl, red coral, black onyx and 14-karat gold. Jeff Gordon will autograph this unique instrument on stage during the live auction. It is not unusual for these types of PRS guitars to fetch over $10,000. Amanda Hollingsworth, Foundation Director for The Jeff Gordon Foundation states "We are pleased to have PRS Guitars involved in our live auction this year. Their donation will help raise much needed funds for the Hendrick Marrow Program".

Proceeds from the event will help The Jeff Gordon Foundation achieve its mission to support the physical, social and intellectual needs of children and their families throughout the United States. Specifically, Foundation funds directed to the Hendrick Marrow Program of The Marrow Foundation will help change the lives of patients in need of a life-saving marrow or blood cell transplant by assisting with the costs of recruiting volunteers for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry of unrelated marrow and blood cell donors and providing patient assistance grants for uninsured transplant related expenses for patients undergoing a marrow or blood cell transplant. The Jeff Gordon Foundation was established in December of 1999 by the four-time NASCAR Nextel Cup champion to support children and families in need. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Marrow Foundation in partnership with The Hendrick Marrow Program, Riley Hospital for Children and the Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital at NorthEast Medical Center.
