August 16, 2005Award-Winning RKS Guitars Turns Up the Volume with the Launch of Its New Corporate Headquarters and Production Facility in Oxnard, CaliforniaPress release Los Angeles, CA, August 16, 2005: Award-winning RKS Guitars is riding a big wave this summer, still celebrating their June move into an impressive new 12,130 square foot home at 211 N. Lombard Street in Oxnard, CA. The company's recently completed Ventura County base of operations houses RKS Guitars corporate headquarters, including the offices of its trio of co-founders: industrial design icon Ravi K. Sawhney (founder and CEO of RKS Design), Rock and Hall of Famer Dave Mason and information technology pioneer Dale Jensen. The site also encompasses a massive 10,900 square foot factory floor, where RKS Guitars world-class instruments, developed with guitar legend Mason's direct input, are prototyped and produced. Fusing advance surface modeling techniques-- used by automotive designers- with state-of-the-art CNC programming and machining technologies and final precision hand-assembly, RKS Guitars first production models came off the line July 1. RKS Guitars' housewarming and production ramp-up coincided with the appearance of one of their eye-popping and revolutionary electric guitars on the cover of BusinessWeek Magazine. The issue, with a cover date of July 4, celebrated the winners of the 2005 Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEAs), a prestigious annual competition co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society Of America and BusinessWeek. RKS Guitars won in the Consumer Products field and in the coveted Design Strategy category for their proprietary "Open Architecture" construction, which represents the most dramatic reinvention of the electric guitar in half a century. Also in July, RKS Guitars co-founder/CEO Ravi K. Sawhney and Director of Operations Paul Janowski unveiled the company's first three production models at the 2005 NAMM Summer Session in Indianapolis, IN. The premiere tradeshow for the global music products industry, NAMM's dynamic summer event hosted over 500 exhibitors and closed to 25,000 registrants, who were among the first to experience RKS Guitars' inaugural instruments, the hollow body "Dark Star" and "Ruby Red" models and the solid body "Sunburst." Over the next few months, RKS Guitars will crank it up another notch, launching five additional models into production, including the El Sol and the Chrome Molly. All RKS Guitars embody the company's patented, futuristic "Open Architecture" construction, where each guitar begins with a core instrument perfected for balance, ergonomics and tone. Ribs and bodies can then be added in a huge variety of finishes and colors, offering a "limitless" guitar concept with varied models suited for a broad range of markets. Recognized for their remarkable clarity and sustain, RKS Guitars' rich and resonant sound is as much of a revelation as the riveting visuals of their dramatic neck-through-body design. RKS Guitars are available through the RKS Guitars Dealer Network (a previous distribution arrangement through Hohner is discontinued). Contact RKS Guitars directly at (805) 988-2144.
