Paul Reed Smith (PRS) Art Guitars in Upcoming Exhibition

Press release
Source: Paine Art Center and Gardens

The Paine Art Center and Gardens is pleased to announce Art Guitars by Paul Reed Smith, an electrifying exhibition that celebrates the beauty and artistry of America's most popular musical instrument. Opening September 10, the exhibition features a selection of one-of-a-kind and prototype guitars that illustrate the evolution of guitar building at Paul Reed Smith Guitars.

For the past twenty years, Paul Reed Smith has created electric and electro-acoustic guitars that merge the finest design and craftsmanship with the latest technological innovations. The company got its start in the founder's Annapolis, Maryland, attic workshop, and today is a world-renowned factory producing up to fifty guitars a day, which are sold nationally and in over twenty-eight countries. PRS's superior guitars are the instruments of choice for many top musicians, including Carlos Santana, Alter Bridge, Dave Navarro, Good Charlotte, Melissa Etheridge, Dave Matthews, and Jimmy Buffett to name a few.

Their elegant, exquisitely designed guitars are crafted from the finest woods and often feature intricate inlays of gold, abalone, turquoise, mother of pearl, onyx, and other precious materials. Highlights of the exhibition include two of the first guitars Paul Reed Smith built, which paved the way for body shapes and other design elements that are now standard for PRS Guitars, and several examples from the Dragon series, which showcase elaborate inlay work. Memorabilia from award-winning guitarists and photographs illustrating various production processes will accompany the guitars. This extraordinary exhibition is on view in the Paine's Main Gallery through October 16.
