Granite Records to Release First Album, 'Shrinking Violets', on July 26, 2005

Granite Records is proud to announce the release of Shrinking Violets by Geoff Byrd. The new album will hit Tower Records, Sam Goody, Music Millennium, Starbucks Mega Stores, Walmart, and everywhere music is sold on July 26th.

In April 2005 Granite Records signed Geoff Byrd as their first break-out artist almost a year after his self-released debut album Candy Shell took mainstream radio by storm. Byrd's hard work, rentless drive and dedicated fan base is credited to the success of his self-released single "Silver Plated". Byrd built a dedicated fanbase on the strength of his well-received EP Candy Shell and some Internet savvy. Byrd's new album, Shrinking Violets, is a critical and popular hit that establishes Byrd's unique style of pop rock with improvisational leanings, powered by impassioned vocals, giving the album an unquestionable launch pad for commercial success. Along with heartfelt and aesthetic melodies, Shrinking Violets dominates and revitalizes mainstream Rock/Pop. Byrd's debut single from Shrinking Violets, "Before Kings", hit Hot AC and AAA stations nationally in May 2005 and has hit #3 on R & R's Hot AC New & Active, wedged between Ben Folds and Sugar Ray.

The success of Candy Shell and their passion for Byrd's music prompted Granite partners, music executive Dave Austin and founding member, manager and producer of the world-renowned band Kansas, Phil Ehart, to launch the label. On the heels of Byrd's release will be Orange Sky, a quintet from Trinidad. Orange Sky's sound is cross-cultured rock, a blend of rock with Caribbean influence that adds a whole new dimension to rock music. Their debut album Upstairs will be in stores September 2005.
