The 2005 NAMM Summer Session kicked off on July 22, 2005, and runs through Sunday, July 24, being held for the first time at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, having moved from its long-time summer session venue in Nashville. The NAMM Sessions are music equipment (products) trade shows that occur twice a year - in January (held in Anaheim, California) and July. The shows are "industry only", meaning the shows' primary purpose is to give manufacturers an opportunity to display new and existing product lines to music stores and other retail outlets. More than 20,000 professionals from the international music products industry are expected to attend the Summer Session to check out the latest musical instruments and products from more than 500 exhibiting companies.

In addition to the many exhibits, attendees can participate in the variety of scheduled activities, including music performances at the White River Ballroom and more than 40 free NAMM University educational sessions addressing topics such as theft, employee training, boosting sales and how to capture more share of emerging market segments, such as teens and baby boomers.

NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond and a panel of industry leaders will also present the first-ever "State of the Industry Address," covering trends, opportunities and challenges retailers and manufacturers are seeing today in the music products industry.

"Indy will definitely be music central this weekend," said Joe Lamond, president and CEO, NAMM. "Bringing the music products industry together in the same city with the artists and bands who use this equipment and love these brands is a great thing and we hope to do more of these kind of activities in the future."

Below are images from day one of the 2005 Summer Session. Stay tuned for more coverage as the weekend unfolds.
