The Gibson Custom Shop and the Today Show Plan for Tomorrow

Gibson Custom Shop fans will have a reason to get up early, as two specially-made Flying Vs will be featured performers on the Today Show's summer Toyota Concert Series. The guitars are based on upon Gibson's Flying V Custom (a hybrid model that combines the best of the Flying V and Les Paul Custom), and will prominently display the Toyota Concert Series logo on an Alpine White finish.

The Today Show plans to have many of the Concert Series' artists play and autograph the instruments and will hold a charity auction for both on eBay in early 2006. This year, the Today Show has selected the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation to be the beneficiary of these auctions. The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation supports music education and its many benefits through the donation of new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved school and community music programs and individual students nationwide.

The Toyota Concert Series runs over the course of 17 weeks from May-September, and is held in Bryant Park, NYC. Past performers include Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Maroon 5, Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Barenaked Ladies, and Alicia Keys. The Today Show airs at 7 a.m. EST on NBC.
