Godin Guitars Introduces Three New Models

Two new Freeways

The Freeway Classic became Godin's [website] most popular model almost immediately following its release. Critics admired the Freeway's, "expensive custom guitar looks" and "big, balanced sound". Grabbing the satin-finished, rock maple neck is akin to sliding into your favorite sneakers. But aside from great looks and feel the Freeway scores high marks in the guitar/workhorse department. The hum-single-hum configuration of the Godin pickups produce a broad spectrum of tones, including; big humbucker crunch, wailing Blues, and clean chime-like sounds, to name a few.

The resounding success of the Godin Freeway Classic inspired Robert Godin to design two new guitars based on the Classic model: The Freeway SA (synth access) and the Freeway Floyd.

The Godin Detour

The new Godin Detour introduces a new double-cutaway solid-body to the Performance Series of guitars.

Godin Freeway Floyd

The Freeway Floyd represents the most aggressive of the three Freeways. Players and critics have raved about the amazing feel of the rock maple neck in the Freeway Classic. With that in mind, Godin used the same Rock Maple neck and perfectly balanced, double cut body for the foundation of the Freeway Floyd. But that's where the similarities end. A low-profile licensed Floyd style bridge and locking nut provide a smooth feel and solid tuning during even the most aggressive dive-bombing. A special set of extra hot Godin pickups provide paint peeling gain when needed, but are versatile enough to produce an excellent selection of clean sounds as well. A matching headstock completes the Freeway Floyd's souped-up looks.

Available in Black Pearl or Satin Silver at $625 U.S. list. Price includes a deluxe gig bag.

Godin Freeway SA

The Freeway SA (synth access) takes all of the versatility of the Freeway Classic and adds synth/computer access via a built-in 13-pin connector courtesy of the revolutionary Ghost pickup system installed in the bridge. The Ghost system is made in Canada by Graph Tech and uses a proprietary harmonic dampening system that results in superb tracking. Godin's pioneering designs in guitars with synth access have led the industry and the Freeway continues the tradition establishing new benchmarks for response, ease-of-use and affordability.

Godin Detour

The Detour adds another double cutaway solid-body to Godin's growing roster of Performance Series guitars. The short-scale (24 ¾"), rock maple, neck provides both easy string bending and a comfortable, compact feel. A block of Silver-Leaf Maple provides a solid anchor point for the bridge and neck with balance provided by light Poplar wings on each side of the body. Maximum neck/body resonance is further assured by the super-tight neck pocket, which is masked prior to finishing to make sure that there is no paint or finish residue left to impede a perfect wood-on-wood connection. Strings pass through a brass plate in the back of the guitar and the body for maximum sustain. All of this exceptional resonance is captured by two Godin humbucking pickups. The neck and body of the Detour are crafted in La Patrie, Quebec and assembled at Godin USA in Berlin, New Hampshire.
