January 22, 2005Winter NAMM 2005: Spotlight on Daisy Rock Guitarsby Rick Messock January 21, 2005, the second day of Winter NAMM 2005. We stop by the Daisy Rock Guitars booth to view the company's new models and take advantage of a photo op with Heart's Nancy Wilson. Daisy Rock Guitars bills itself as a company that makes girl guitars. Rather than a novelty, Daisy Rock produces high-quality instruments that are geared to female players but still have the essentials of tone, quality components, action, looks, fit, and finish. Tish Ciravolo, the founder of Daisy Rock Guitars, wanted to create guitars that were inspiring and fun and that would motivate girls to pursue playing the instrument. By focusing on reducing the weight, making necks slimmer, and offering a wide (sometimes outrageous) palette of colors and finishes, she is achieving that goal. We met Nancy Wilson at the Daisy Rock booth, and she talked about her use of Daisy Rock Guitars in performances. Wilson recently received a custom-built double-neck Daisy Rock guitar that she currently uses. Incidentally, Daisy Rock's client list includes many men.
