March 16, 2005 (March 16, 2005) Nothing very important has been going on except that I am lagging in my Berklee online classes and I try to catch up everyday. There is a Chinese girl in my song writing class who plays suchhhhh pretttyyyyy piaaano. I wait for her to upload her weeks assignment and then i just sit there listening on repeat going Haaiii. You know, hers are like those piano melodies that are rich and innocent and wonderfully played. A little out of beat, a little half measure late... but so enchanting and pretty. Learning music theory has done a funny thing to me. now Im noting all the technical facility in it...the notes, the key, the time... i go okay thats the bridge there... ohhh refrain and then the chorus, clever... etc. I miss listening to music and just enjoying it. Khair (anyway), this girl plays pretty, flowing, music. Her melodies dont remind me of technical stuff. They're personal and emotional. I really like them. I went to LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences) today to utilize the printer facility like a cheap ass. Hehe. Had to print out some 200 pages of my music theory 101 class before it goes offline in 3 weeks (no, you can't have a copy). I also said some stuff on the radio FM 89 Karachi on International Womens Day. Thank God it wasnt a heated we-hate-men-and-have-done-so-many-cool-things-ourselves discussion. Thank you Huma for forwarding the people my number. Thank you cute mommy who sat downstairs and listened to Lahore FM 89 broadcast the whole time waiting for me to come on air :) Little brother Maher succeeded in downloading an intelligent virus into the computer. I also did not have an antivirus software installed. And that is truly because elder brother Gauher has taken the Norton CD with him to Chicago. Khair. The virus would just send itself to other people through MSN and if you're stupid enough to think I'm genuinely sending you a file called 'my lesbian friend' or 'my new picture (most fell for this one)' then you will download the virus too. Luckily, one of my friends was good at computer stuff so he helped me delete the thing manually. Another thing is that the car we usually drag around Lahore is at the workshop, and will come back friday evening. This is the evening of my not so enthusiastic birthday. So I've had to travel around in the factory car, which does not have shock absorbers and is very annoying. It also looks like those public transport vans, so at every stoplight a bunch of people are ready and willing to jump in with me. I went to Aunty Sabeen's house yesterday. It's nice. Zair, Umer and their friend are performing for the Lacas reunion or something. They like to call themselves the Purple Pundits. Vocalist oon ka, rhythm guitarist hai, and he is really underconfident about his singing. Aunty Sabeen thought I could help him some. I was impressed that Umer can play tabla so well, and Zair is so professional with his bass skills. These two were soley responsible for the vocalist not being able to sing, because they were making fun of him to death. He was singing just fine... so I told him that and my work was done lol. It's nice to sit in and watch creative people play. We did some improvised stuff... tabla bass and some vocal alaaps... sounded pretty. Birthday walay din kuch bhi nice naheen ho raha (nothing fun is going on). Hajrah (best friend) is going off at 12 pm to Islamabad to attend some Urdu literature seminar or whatver. Okay I feel like eating Pizza Hut's garlic bread right now. But it is 4 am. I have to get up and go to LUMS again tomorrow, because there is more printing to be done. I never see Mina there. Today's weather report : Mausam acha tha. Abhi abhi barish bhi hoi (it's serene and it just rained). Listening to what music: Chinese piano girl p.s : you guys are getting a Paki music update less and an Urdu lesson |
